I was born in Hednesford, Staffordshire. Throughout my school years I enjoyed drawing and painting and hoped to study it further, but on leaving was encouraged by my mother to pursue a career as a secretary. My parents moved to Aberystwyth in 1980 and so my husband, Andy Field, and I followed in 1983. I worked in the office for him as he freelanced in the music business as a production manager. Sadly, he died in 1992. Here's an interview with Marillion Museum I did in 2022 to remember him 30 years on: https://www.markosmarillionmuseum.com/aislinn-knight-andy-field
In 1996 I decided to pursue further education and embarked on a one-year Access to Art and Design course, at Coleg Ceredigion. On completion in 1997 I applied to study Fine Art at The School of Art, University of Wales Aberystwyth and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in 2000. The next 7 years were spent working to fund a part time Master’s Degree in Fine Art eventually graduating in 2007. Following years of juggling work and making art in my spare time I officially retired in 2016 so was then able to spend more time in the studio. .
